Privacy: anonymous analytics, no cookies, no telemetry

05 is a tool for keeping code private, and this site is built to match. Here is exactly what it does and does not do. Last updated 30 October 2026.

This website

  • It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser: no local storage, no session storage.
  • It counts page views anonymously, so we can see which pages people read and how they found them. Nothing is kept between page loads, so a visitor is not followed from page to page or from one visit to the next.
  • It has no advertising, no session recording and no tracking across other sites. It honours Do Not Track: with it on, nothing is counted.
  • It loads nothing from other domains: fonts, images, styles and scripts all come from use05.dev.
  • It has no forms. To reach us you send an email.

What the analytics record

We use PostHog (US cloud). Its script is served from use05.dev, and what it records goes to use05.dev, which passes it on to PostHog. For each page view it records the page, the page you came from, your browser and device type, screen size, and an approximate location (country and city) that PostHog derives from your IP address. It also records a few clicks: the buttons that lead to another page, links to GitHub and other sites, and the email link or the copy-address button. It never records what you type, and there is nothing on this site to type into.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, it may keep standard server logs, such as the IP address and the page requested, to run and secure the service.

Block the analytics and the site works exactly the same.

Email

If you write to [email protected], we receive your message and your email address, and we use them only to reply to you.

The 05 local tool

The 05 command line tool runs entirely on your machine: no account, no telemetry, and nothing leaves it.

05 for teams

05 for teams is a paid product on our roadmap, launching soon: a simple web layer for managing how your team works in its code. It is designed to receive metadata only, never your code, and it will have its own privacy terms before it launches.
